The Hermes Kelly watch

The Kelly collection came about with an interesting story: in 1956, Princess Grace Kelly of Monaco gently covered her pregnant body with a bag from Hermes. The photo of this image, which appeared in Life magazine, marked the start of its international success. Subsequently, the bag was renamed the Kelly bag. This timeless favourite features a padlock on the closure of the bag's flap.

In 1975, a watch was fashioned after this design, where the timepiece itself was incorporated into the padlock that hung on a leather watch strap. During its introduction, the Kelly watch was offered in stainless steel, yellow gold and diamonds, with matching calf or crocodile straps.

Recently, the Kelly welcomed two new additions to the family: the Kelly Clochette and the Kelly Double Tour. The Kelly Clochette conceals the padlock watch inside a brown or a black leather pouch to be worn on a strap around the neck. A watch and an accessory in one, the Kelly Clochette allows the wearer to tell time discreetly.

The Kelly Double Tour secures the padlock onto a double tour strap that wraps around the wrist twice. The double tour is an Hermes favourite made famous by Martin Margiela when he first presented it during the Hermes ladies ready-to-wear show, and provides a stylish alternative to the single loop watch strap. The selection of strap colours includes natural, black, royal blue and Hermes red in barenia or smooth grained calfskin.
