Fall Faves : Miu Miu

Miuccia Prada delivered a lovely collection with Miu Miu for Fall. A shy away from the bohemia and light-hearted fun presented in her Spring collection, the Fall collection is elegant and for a more sophisticated woman, though still appealing to the girly girls.

The clothes were wearable and not at all dramatic, but still so chic and refined (that's what make Miuccia Prada so successful!). The show started with models decked out in chocolate and camel sweaters, capes and coats, dresses and skirts that ended above or at the knee, side-swept ponytails and gothic looking fishnet hats.

Every item from these lovely suede pumps, chocolate studded pointy heels to this sailor's hat (is there a name for that?) was beautifully crafted to suit the Miu Miu girl.

Though blacks and browns were the main colours, there were also many colourful prints, more opulent looking than the bohemia and geometric prints of Spring, with paisley making a huge comeback. The gorgeous paisley embrioded pink knit pullover above for example, was one of my favourite pieces. Such a great piece to wear for Fall! And even for Spring. I would purchase it if I could and keep it for years to come. Its classic design is sure to last the seasons and this would make a wonderful vintage piece in say 50 years? I'm hoping stores would be coming up with such gorgeous embellished knits soon and not the run-of-the-mill boring mumsy looking dreary ones.

Another colour brought to our attention was purple. Take this little cocktail dress for example. With different shades of purple on the applique and fabric. And yes, click for the gorgeous detailing. Are those little crystals I see? Gosh, I love this dress.

Wait, there's more.

Black as you should all know by now is huge this Fall, thanks to Miuccia, and lace too! Black lace = goth, victorian = so totally Fall.
The little cute black dress on the right was utterly drool-worthy. I'm not usually a fan of lace, but I'm a sucker for black lace on cocktail dresses. This dress just took the cake (and all its icing) for the look for Fall. A little goth, a little victorian, a contemporary silhouette with a romantic vintage-ish fabric. How could one not love it?

The seperates were beautiful. The little embroidery on the skirts had a slight chinoserie inspiration and the brocade coats, so rich and elaborate.

If the Miu Miu collection was anything to go by, sewed on oriental appliques and paisley is going to be huge this fall. And boy am I looking forward to see more class than clutter on the racks (and thus, on the streets) again.

Miuccia Prada, I salute you.
