S/S'06 - Double Breasted

One of the great innovations of Yves Saint Laurent include his reefer jacket - created in 1962. These double breasted jackets have naval origins (hence the word reef). Sailors wore these heavy jackets when they had to go aloft to take in or let out the sails. Today, the reefer jacket still has a heavy-duty role in the fashion industry, as seen on the Spring runways. As Mary Kate Olsen mentioned in her recent W interview, she loves getting amazing jackets. I'm sure we all do too.
