S/S'06 - Checks
The checks have not left us. Yet. The country farmgirl look is still going strong and checks are still found on the runway. I don't quite like checks. I only owned a checked skirt once, when I was five. It was a scottish kilt design and it itched the hell out of me.
This spring, I see two different types of checks - the country bumpkin gingham versions and the more subtle tablecloth-esque ones.
All I can say is use with discretion. Don't overpower.
Country Gingham checks
Country gingham on shirts at Dries Van Noten, dresses at LAMB, and pants at Alexandre Hercovitch
Tablecloth checks
Cute and Twiggy-ish at Imitation of Christ, Cityslicker jumpsuit at Roberto Cavalli, Alice in Wonderland at Kenzo
